About Us

Pistorino Law Firm provides seasoned litigation counsel for corporate clients in federal courts nationwide, with a primary focus on complex intellectual property disputes, including patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret litigation. Our extensive experience in federal litigation is marked by appearances and arguments before various Federal District Courts, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, as well as Texas and California state district courts.

Pistorino Law Firm brings a remarkable capacity for understanding and litigating cases across a broad range of technologies. This strength is built on the deep technological and legal experience of our founder, James Pistorino. Our portfolio includes matters involving wireless communications (such as cloud computing technologies defended for clients like Amazon), email and database software, sophisticated offshore oil and gas platforms, cutting-edge biological assays, blood substitutes, advancements in genetics, chemiluminescence technologies, ergonomic seating designs, and complex semiconductor manufacturing equipment. This diverse technological acumen ensures clients receive representation that is not only legally sound but also deeply informed by the subject matter.

Beyond the courtroom, Pistorino Law Firm has significant experience representing clients before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), adeptly handling patent prosecution and navigating patent re-examination proceedings to secure and defend valuable patent rights.

A leader in intellectual property law and federal litigation

Our foundation

The foundation of our practice is built on the extensive experience of our founder, James Pistorino. Before establishing Pistorino Law Firm, Mr. Pistorino was a partner with Parrish Law Offices in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Prior to that, he was a partner with Perkins Coie in its Menlo Park, California office, a leading international law firm. Mr. Pistorino's expertise has been recognized by his peers, as evidenced by his listing in Super Lawyers, Northern California, for 2014-2015.

Our commitment

Pistorino Law Firm is committed to the legal community. Our founder, James Pistorino, is an active member of the American Bar Association and has served as the Vice President of the San Francisco Bay Area IP Inns of Court from 2010 to the present, contributing to the advancement of professionalism and ethics in intellectual property law.

Our expertise

The technological insight crucial to our IP practice stems from our founder's background. Mr. Pistorino earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Duke University in 1993, providing him with a foundational understanding of technology that is invaluable to our firm's capabilities. He subsequently received his Juris Doctor (JD) from Duke University School of Law in 1996.
